What Is CSEET and Why It Matters
CSEET (Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test) is the mandatory entrance exam to enter the CS Executive Programme. Conducted by ICSI, it has been restructured from June 2026 onwards. The new format is centre-based (physical exam centre), replaces the old online remote-proctored format, and tests four subjects at 100 marks each (400 marks total).
Good news: CSEET has no negative marking, and the exam is held three times a year — February, June, and October sessions.

60-Day Study Plan for CSEET 2026
60 days of focused study (3–4 hours/day) is sufficient to cover all four papers. Here's a paper-wise schedule:
- Days 1–12: Business Communication — grammar, vocabulary, business correspondence, email etiquette, comprehension
- Days 13–27: Fundamentals of Accounting — journal entries, ledger, depreciation, partnership accounts, company accounts
- Days 28–45: Economic & Business Environment — micro/macro economics, national income, Indian financial markets, business environment, ESG, AI basics, corporate governance
- Days 46–55: Business Laws & Management — Indian Contract Act, Companies Act, Sale of Goods, Negotiable Instruments, Partnership, management functions, Fayol & Taylor
- Days 56–60: Full revision + 2 full mock tests (one per day)
Paper-wise Preparation Strategy
Paper 1 — Business Communication (Subjective, 3 Hours)
- Learn formal letter formats by heart — salutation, subject line, body, closing
- Practice grammar daily — tenses, voice (active/passive), prepositions, subject-verb agreement
- Learn 10 new words daily — synonyms, antonyms, idioms, proverbs
- Practice writing précis (summary) of passages — common in subjective format
- Study digital communication topics: AI tools, chatbots, social media — newly added in restructured syllabus
Paper 2 — Fundamentals of Accounting (Subjective, 3 Hours)
- Practice journal entries every day — even 10 entries per day for 2 weeks builds strong foundations
- Master both depreciation methods: straight-line and diminishing balance with numerical examples
- Practice partnership accounts — admission, retirement, death of partner scenarios
- Do trial balance problems until they feel automatic
- Solve at least 5 balance sheet problems per week
Paper 3 — Economic & Business Environment (Subjective, 3 Hours)
- Read Economic Times or The Hindu business section daily for current economic data
- Make a one-page national income cheat sheet — GDP, GNP, NNP, NDP, Per Capita Income formulas
- Study regulatory bodies thoroughly: SEBI, RBI, NCLT, NCLAT, IBBI, CCI, NITI Aayog
- Learn ESG and corporate governance basics — new high-weightage area
- Study AI basics — added to restructured syllabus under "AI and Business Environment"
Paper 4 — Business Laws & Management (OMR, 2 Hours)
- This is the only objective paper — speed and accuracy both matter
- Focus on definitions and key provisions: Indian Contract Act, Companies Act, Sale of Goods, Negotiable Instruments, Partnership Act
- Memorise all of Fayol's 14 principles with examples
- Learn all functions of management (POSDCORB) — planning, organising, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting, budgeting
- Practice MCQs from law topics — one wrong concept costs marks here
Subject-wise Time Allocation
| Subject | Days | Daily Hours | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business Communication | 12 | 3–4 hrs | Grammar + writing practice both needed |
| Fundamentals of Accounting | 15 | 4 hrs | Numerical practice is non-negotiable |
| Economic & Business Environment | 18 | 3–4 hrs | Largest syllabus with current affairs component |
| Business Laws & Management | 10 | 3 hrs | Breadth over depth — cover all topics |
| Revision + Mock Tests | 5 | 4–5 hrs | Identify and fix weak spots before exam |
CSEET Is Achievable — But Needs the Right Format Approach
CSEET is an entrance test, not a professional exam. The restructured format (from June 2026) shifts Papers 1–3 to subjective writing — so rote memorisation is not enough. You need to practise writing answers clearly and concisely within time limits. Paper 4 remains objective (OMR), rewarding speed and accuracy.
